Naturskat Cattery was established in 1989 by Linda & Bob Krall when we purchased our first Norwegian Forest Cat, Kari from Linda Stebner, Epona Cattery. We had no plans to become breeders and found ourselves becoming more and more involved in the Cat Fancy as the years passed. Today we  are a small cattery  located in the beautiful Hudson River Valley, in Dutchess County, New York (a cattery is by definition simply a place in which cats are bred). In this instance it is in our home.  We breed and show Norwegian Forest Cats for the love of the breed. Our goal is to continue to strive to improve upon the best show cats  that we have produced. Health is of primary importance. We have done the necessary tests that are available to protect the health of our kittens including testing for  GSD lV, HCM and blood typing our cats. We imported and used Wonder's Legolas who got us started with some European Lines that we did not have and then made a very important trip to visit 13 catteries, concentrating on Sweden and Denmark. We brought back our Zig from Kvilles Cattery. Zig is giving us some of our best show cats.  During the past 6 years we worked closely with a small group of breeders to strive to diversify and broaden our lines. Males from several new lines that we  used as part of our breeding program were housed at Finlandia Cattery  and  ArctiCat Cattery, who have since retired. We now have our own male from Aristo Limaz, Chief Nacona. Chief Nacona is from Sweden and became a TICA Supreme Grand Champion and International Winner.  We waited a long time until we saw what we needed and wanted in our Aristo Limaz Chief. We also have a proven stud in Pysida's Lamborgini who sired his first kittens in the summer of 2006 which we thought to be very nice, in fact the U litter was a litter of 7, the largest litter we have had in the 17 years we have been breeding. Since then we have had to neuter Lamborgini as he was not a happy stud and wanted to be in the general population of the house. His last litter was also 7, the AA litter, and it was born on 7/7/07. Lamborgini is much happier as a pet.

Our kittens are raised underfoot and our cats are part of our family. If you are interested in an intelligent loving pet, we usually have kittens, and occasionally altered  adults, available to selected homes. We place adult cats only when we feel it is in the best interest of the cat to do so.  We have produced  top International and Regional Award winning cats. Our kittens are placed between 12 and 16 weeks of age so that they can be fully immunized and  given a chance to develop their personalities. The Norwegian Forest cat does not fully mature until four to five years of age so there is a lot to look forward to. Naturskat Cattery has been awarded the CFA Cattery of  Excellence Certificate and the TICA Outstanding Cattery Certificate. We are   members of  The Norwegian Forest Cat Breeders Consortium. Linda has Chaired the TICA Norwegian Forest Breed Committee and is  a CFA Norwegian Forest  breed council member. Linda  was  president of Hudson Valley Cats for 9 years until it disbanded in 2004. During that time over 400 homeless cats and kittens were adopted as a result of the Hudson Valley Cats Show which also helped to  raise  funds to support the local shelters and  encouraged people to spay and neuter.

Our greatest concern is that all of our cats and kittens are well cared for and living in loving stress free homes.

If you have any questions please let us know  who you are and where you live. It will save time in correspondence and will help us to guide you in the right direction for kitten availability. We hope you enjoy our site and the photos of our treasured breed, the Norwegian Forest Cat.
